Junior High Program Assistant/Intern
Wooddale Church is seeking a young adult who is currently attending college or seminary and is preparing for future vocational ministry. This is a part time internship at 20 hrs/week during the school year and 40 hours/week during the summer. A. QUALIFICATIONS
- Pursuing a career in youth ministry
- Ability to relate to junior high students and families
- Desire to be mentored by the Junior High Pastor in the process and practice of vocational ministry
- Subscribe to and affirm the Statement of Faith and Covenant of Wooddale Church
- Be a regular participant in public worship at Wooddale Church
- Remain a member in good standing of Wooddale Church
B. RESPONSIBILITIES
The Junior High Program Assistant shall work under the direction of the Junior High Pastor in design, development and implementation of the junior high ministries of Wooddale Church:
- Develop, coordinate and lead junior high events
- Establish relationships with students and parents in order to minister effectively
- Participate in leadership of junior high mission trips, camps, outreach activities and teaching sessions
- Participate in recruitment, training and supervision of volunteer leaders for junior high ministry
- Attend training sessions and planning meetings with other youth workers
- Participate in regular supervision meetings with the Junior High Pastor
- Participate in regular intern leadership development meetings
- Participate in other pastoral functions as assigned
- Fulfill other responsibilities as assigned
C. RELATIONSHIPS
- Reports to the Junior High Pastor
- Relates with the other Junior High Program staff
- Coordinates with other members of the church staff
D. OUTCOMES
- Clear appraisal and mature self-awareness of suitability and gifting for vocational Christian ministry
- Vision-expanding understanding of the shape of effective Christian ministry through participation at Wooddale Church and exposure to local churches and ministry agencies
- Significantly improved levels of demonstrated ministry competence through practical ministry service, feedback from a supervising pastor and training in leadership skill development
- Deepened sense of ministry call and career focus through an ongoing discernment process embedded in mentoring relationships, as well as through specific career activities and placement consulting
