The Santisuk English School began in 1993 around a ping-pong table in the garage of Wooddale global partners Steve and Nopaluck Cable in Bangkok, Thailand. The school’s quality reputation has helped the school become the largest English school in northeastern Bangkok. The students range from high school age to working adults, with a majority being college graduates. The emphasis is on speaking conversational English.
Now the students meet in the newly renovated corner building on the busy street of Ladprao. The spacious design provided the freedom to maximize the space for classrooms and offices. The two chandeliers in the lobby attract passersby with a classy look.
Santisuk has offered English classes to nearly 9,000 different Thai students more than 25,000 different times over the past 18 years. Each of those times represents a full 30-hour English teaching session. Classes are held year round and the school thrives under the steady stream of volunteers who come to teach each month. Over 300 different people have come as volunteer teachers; many of them are Wooddalers.
Many people think they can’t teach English because they don’t have any teaching experience or because they’ve forgotten the rules of grammar. But everyone can do it by following Santisuk’s curriculum. Volunteers help students learn to speak a ‘th’ sound and help them respond in a two or three sentence answer to, “What did you do yesterday?” for example. They also use Bible stories as part of the English lesson.

All short-termers are also involved in ministry at Peace Fellowship Church and are encouraged to develop relationships with our friendly Thai students. These grassroots efforts build a foundation of trust and prepare the students’ hearts for Jesus. Over the years, many of the students have made personal faith decisions in Jesus Christ and are currently attending Peace Fellowship Church and churches around the world!
Cathy Wenz started out as a short-termer at Santisuk, and then became a long-term Wooddale global partner. Cathy is now a full-time teacher at Santisuk and disciples new believers at Peace Fellowship Church.
The school and church are launching pads to expand God’s Kingdom in Thailand.
