Do you like to make others feel welcome? We need people to call our new regular attendees and welcome them to Wooddale Church and help them connect to the many areas to serve and be served.
Do you enjoy hearing faith stories of how people have come to faith? Each Sunday morning and Wednesday evening a team of people gather to meet with people wishing to become members of Wooddale Church. Sunday meetings are from 10:15am – 11:15am and Wednesday evenings are from 6:45 pm – 7:45 pm. You can help as much as you like. We do request that you be available at least 1 time a month. We do require that you be a member for a minimum of one year to serve on the committee.
Do you have a digital camera and enjoy photography? We have six New Member Dinners a year and we take individual pictures of our new members. We would love for you to put together a creative background- the courtyard in the summer or Christmas trees in December. We request that you burn the pictures onto a CD and save each picture with the name of the person. Dinners are on Sunday afternoons at 12:45 pm and the time commitment is about 12:30pm – 1:30pm. We will even treat you to dinner if you would like to stay. It is great if we can get the CD of pictures by the following Tuesday at 5pm.
Would you like to welcome new members into the Wooddale Church family? We have six new member dinners each year on Sunday afternoons (12:45 pm – 1:45 pm). New members are invited to attend with their family to be welcomed into their church family. We have great fellowship and then present each person their certificate as well as a selected verse. Host/Hostess’s enjoy a wonderful meal and conversation with our newest members. They take a special interest in getting new members connected and answer any questions they can about Wooddale Church. We do request that Table Host/Hostess have been an actively involved member of Wooddale Church for a minimum of one year.
Would you like to assist others in their baptism experience? Baptisms are scheduled once a month. You would need to be available during the service in which the Baptism is being held. You would sit outside the Worship Center and monitor the service and help with getting robes to the Pastor doing the baptism and those who are getting baptized. It is a very rewarding way to assist in someone’s special day. You don’t have to be available for summer baptisms. We do request that you have been baptized by immersion in order to help answer questions.
Do you know how to type accurately and push a space bar (and at times be able to decipher handwriting)? Each Tuesday between 11:30am -4:00pm volunteers input the information from the attendance cards. It is fun to get to know the names of people and then meet them as you minister in other areas of the church. We request that you can assist at least one time a month. Each time to assist is about two hours long.
Are you available on Sunday afternoon or Sunday nights? Each week the information cards need to be sorted. We separate into 5 piles – Prayer, 1st time attender, 2nd time attender, students and other. This helps so that Wooddale Staff can make connections with people requesting information first thing on Monday morning. The commitment is about 1 hour. (Perfect for parents who have their kids here for AUG or choir.
Would you like to help set up for the Getting to Know Wooddale Seminars or our Premarital Seminars? There are approximately 9 seminars throughout the year that would require set up. All of our seminars are held on Saturdays and need to be set up on Friday afternoons. Volunteering would consist of putting binders, bibles and pens on tables and other miscellaneous set up needs. Would consist of about 1-2 hours of set-up time.
Do you like to do small administrative projects? This could range from stuffing envelopes, putting labels on mailings to shredding information cards. If you can volunteer we can probably find a project for you. Timing is very flexible but would prefer during business hours.
Do you like to serve others? Wooddale Church hosts about 20 services a year and following each service is either lunch or refreshments. We need volunteers to assist in serving coffee and tea and showing guests where to go for food and refreshments. There is also light pickup after the guests leave. Times vary but are mostly during the weekday between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm. Must be available on short notice and dress appropriately.
Do you enjoy ushering? Wooddale Church hosts about 20 services a year and at times is in need of ushers. You would need to be available prior to the service and required to be standing for most of the time. Times vary but are mostly during the weekday between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm. Must be available on short notice and dress in business attire.
Where is the Worship Center? Each Sunday morning and Saturday night, volunteers assist in helping our visitors find their way around Wooddale Church. They help point them in the right direction for the service, the nursery, classes and coffee (to name a few). Do you have the gift of Hospitality? You would enjoy helping people learn more about Wooddale Church. You can volunteer weekly or as your schedule allows. We currently have the need for Saturday night and Sunday’s between 12:15- 12:45pm.
Would you like to visit Wooddalers who can no longer come to church? We would love to have you assist in our ministry. We would connect you with a person or a couple who have requested visits. You can visit as often as you like. You can assist in bringing them to church, with getting groceries or just being that someone to talk to. We would like you to have contact at least once a month and report back to Wendy Pekarek briefly detailing the visit. All visitors are required to have a background check.
This opportunity is highly confidential. It involves reviewing applications of people who come to Wooddale Church requesting financial assistance. This individual would make background checks, phone calls and determine what type of assistance is most appropriate for the person in need. They would review each application and assistance before it is given to Pastor Bell. Wooddale Church membership is required.
