Sounds of Praise consists of three choirs:
Children learn to sing correctly and to praise God through song. They sing at worship services, in the Christmas at Wooddale concerts, on tours at other churches and outreach locations such as, retirement centers, nursing homes, and day programs. Each year the children's choir performs a Christmas musical which has ranged in variety from "Veggie Tales" to "The Christmas Starr", and a light, joyful Spring Musical.
Our mission is to train children to glorify God through music and to develop them as the vocal leaders of the churches future! We strive to do this through teaching the understanding of God's word in the text that they sing. We will focus on teaching proper vocal technique, teach some musical theory and also study rhythm, note placement, tonality, and vocal performance. This is a great opportunity for extended growth vocally for young children. We will focus on two main styles of music...contemporary and traditional pieces. Students will also enjoy growth in their faith and understanding of God as they study text, experience God through worship and through minsitry to others as they sing, and enjoy weekly fellowship with other young people!
In the Spring the 4th-6th grade choirs go on tour to neighboring cities. Past experience's include an Amtrax train tour to Stillwater and a bus trip up to Nisswa. These experiences are memory makers for the kids; they perform in retirement centers and churches along the way. The younger children's choirs take day trips to local retirement centers as their spring activity. There are many chances to express themselves in song throughout the year!
