The purpose of the Wooddale Drama Ministry is to effectively convey God's truths through the arts, and thereby help to fulfill Wooddale's purpose of making more disciples for Jesus Christ. This ministry gives opportunities to both established and emerging artists to use their gifts to honor God. Meetings and try-outs are held quarterly for individuals interested in performing, writing, singing, directing, costuming, lighting, propping, or stagecraft.
Spring Dinner Theater Through the staging of a full-length musical production each spring, the Drama Ministry helps to create entertaining, high quality outreach opportunities for Wooddalers. Shows range from musicals to melodramas, large to small casts, but all are fun and entertaining.
Christmas Production
Each December, the Wooddale drama team and children's choirs join together and present a musical theatrical production. Past shows have included "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever", "The Chronicles of Narnia", Veggie Tales "A Star of Christmas" and several original productions.
Special Projects
Short video segments for presentation during worship services or other events, outreach dramas for daughter churches, and other diverse opportunities provide short-term opportunities for actors, writers, and other artists.
Worship Service Dramas
Many worship services, both contemporary and traditional, include a drama that ties in with the services' theme and scripture reference. Whether slice-of-life, humorous, dramatic, or scripture readings, these dramas help worshippers think about issues of faith in a fresh way and apply God's teachings to their own lives.
