A Letter from Leith

Dear Wooddaler,

This is the first email sent to everyone at Wooddale Church! It's all about Generosity!

Wooddalers generously started 2010 by packing 1.2 million meals that have been shipped to feed hungry children in Mozambique.

In the coming weeks we will see and hear some other very practical ways to be generous in our lifestyles-helping neighbors, serving the poor, showing kindness, blessing co-workers, and more. We are looking for ideas to live out the words of 2 Corinthians 9:6, "Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously." Throughout the Wooddale family we are sharing exciting ways to sow generously and bless others.

We will also invite you to share financially in Generosity! The plan is to combine the exciting success of our 2007-2010 Expanding the Vision with our Wooddale Church Ministry Fund to underwrite God's call for our church family for 2010-2013. You probably know that giving has dropped across America during this difficult recession and that Wooddale Church has not met budget for the last three years. We've cut expenses, realigned staff and thanked God for your faithful giving.

Our prayer is that you will join with other Wooddalers in a commitment to increased giving over the coming 36 months so that we can avoid further cuts, meet financial needs, continue special new ministries (like mentoring of 4th-12th graders to become future missionaries and pastors) and expand our finances to help people in need (we have already helped a record number of Wooddalers through their unemployment, housing crises and financial hardship).

You will hear more in the coming weeks. Please pray about your part in Generosity!

May God generously bless you!

Leith Anderson

Pastor
