O – Observation (noting what is said, by whom, where, when, why etc.)
U – Understanding (what is being said in your own words, questions you have, relevance to the situation then and now)
A – Application (how does this apply to my life today)
A Deeper Self Study Method for studying a book chapter by chapter:
a. Background for the book (who wrote it, when, why, to whom).
b. Make a basic outline of the chapter, dividing the portion into sections & entitling them (or summarizing each paragraph).
c. List questions you have and seek to find the answers by looking up other Scriptures on the subject).
d. Summarize the chapter’s main teaching.
