Sunday Service Times Change September 12

Anyone who has been part of Wooddale for any length of time understands that change is inevitable. Changes are made with careful consideration and examination of the need for the change.

It has become obvious that a change to the Sunday worship schedule needed to be made. The 10:15 a.m. service on the Eden Prairie campus is often packed, while the 11:30 a.m. service has ample space for more worshipers. Evaluating the situation led to the conclusion that a contributing factor to this disparity was the timing of the services. This factor has also contributed to other aspects of ministry on Sunday morning as well.

Adjusting the start times of the Sunday morning services should address these issues and make it possible for more people to worship at Wooddale on Sunday morning. With this in mind, the Sunday worship service schedule on both the Eden Prairie and Edina campuses will change, effective September 12. The Eden Prairie Sunday morning service schedule will now begin with the traditional service at 8:30 a.m. The first contemporary service will begin at 9:45 a.m. with the second contemporary service beginning at 11 a.m. The education schedule for children and adults will also be adjusted to match the service times, with classes that previously began at 9 a.m. starting at 8:30 a.m., 10:15 a.m. classes beginning at 9:45 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. classes beginning at 11 a.m.

By starting the services 30 minutes earlier, the last service of the morning will conclude at noon. In addition to making the 11 a.m. service a more attractive worship option for some, this shift will also make it possible for more people to find time to volunteer to serve on Sunday morning.

The Edina service schedule will also be adjusted, so that we can continue to provide a quality worship experience on that campus as well. The contemporary service and first-hour education programming will begin at 9:15 a.m. and the traditional service and second hour education programming will begin at 10:30 a.m.
